Job Summary

Perficient is looking for a Data Engineer to join our team. As a Data Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our data infrastructure and operations. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines, optimizing data workflows, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise. The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in data engineering or a similar role, strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and familiarity with AWS Glue and DataZone for data ingestion, transformation, and governance

What do you need to come aboard?

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proven experience working as a Data Engineer, Data Operations Engineer, or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with AWS Glue for data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration, including creating and maintaining ETL jobs, crawlers, and workflows.
• Familiarity with DataZone or similar data governance and metadata management tools for cataloging, organizing, and governing data assets across the organization.
• Experience with managing and optimizing data operations within AWS cloud environments, including proficiency in leveraging AWS services for data storage, processing, and management.
• Proficiency in SQL and database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Luigi, or similar.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools is a plus.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus.

• Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to support various data processing needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and implement solutions that meet business needs.
• Optimize and fine-tune data workflows to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency.
• Monitor data pipelines and systems to ensure smooth operation and proactively address any issues or bottlenecks.
• Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Troubleshoot and debug data-related issues, working closely with stakeholders to identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Automate repetitive tasks and processes to streamline data operations and improve productivity.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering and operations, and recommend relevant improvements or changes to existing systems.
• Document data workflows, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and maintain system documentation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other team members as needed.
